How to Get Into Mindfulness?

The path to mindfulness can be achieved by overcoming three mind stages, as simplified by monk and teacher Shinzen Young: Concentration, Clarity and Equanimity.

Concentration, as we described, calms the mind, connects it with the body and allows a controlled state of mind. Clarity brings awareness of sensations and thoughts while focused and concentrated. Equanimity is an emotionally balanced state, aware but without reacting to internal or external distractions.
